A scrunchie designed to disappear, not sit in landfill
Most brands make scrunchies using synthetic fibres and petroleum-based elastic. As a result, they can take decades, or longer to break down and often shed microplastics as they age.
The SAGE Biodegradable Scrunchie was created as a slow fashion alternative. We use natural materials and design each one to biodegrade naturally instead of lingering in landfill.
We believe sustainability should include the smaller things too.
Materials
Outer:
Liberty of London Tana Lawn 100% cotton, printed in Liberty’s Printing Mill in northern Italy. The cotton fibre used in Tana Lawn is grown in India, Egypt and US.
Inner core:
Organic cotton elastic cord – 40% organic cotton / 60% natural rubber, OEKO TEX: VN010 233364 and EU Reach compliant. Biodegradable, Compostable natural fibres produced ethically in the EU. Country of Origin – Austria.
Thread:
100% cellulose thread – (Celofil #40 (Tencel). 100% Tencel by Lensing. OEKO TEX #3092CIT CITEVE. Country of Origin – Portugal.

Does it contain elastic?
No, we have sourced a natural rubber stretch core rather than using a synthetic petroleum-based elastic. This natural rubber stretch core has an organic cotton outer casing and is 100% biodegradable.

We chose Liberty fabric for its exceptional quality and longevity. Liberty fabric lasts beautifully and supports our slower fashion values – fewer purchases, better pieces.
